Designed for adults 21 years of age and older, the HAVANA SPECIAL Rum Train offers a unique experience that presents the deep historical and cultural connections between Cuba and Miami. Told through the lens of the railroad, which plays a critical role in the development of Miami, and highlighting the future of South Florida rail travel, via Brightline, the HAVANA SPECIAL Rum Train will transport passengers back to the 1950s, the golden era of the Miami-Havana culture and premium rail travel. In partnership with a local Cuban rum distillery, professional entertainment, and historical commentators, this summertime event is not to be missed.

The full experience will last approximately 2.5 hours with guests arriving roughly one hour before the departure of a 1.5 hours train ride.

Station Experience

Upon arrival, guests will be checked in and shown to a private lounge waiting area where they will enjoy a complimentary Mojito and Cuban and Latin influenced passed hors d’oeuvres.  Additional beverages will be available for purchase at the Miami Brightline station; credit card purchase only, no cash accepted.

Train Ride

Car Attendants will greet passengers as they board the train with a second special rum cocktail.  Once enroute, guests will enjoy tasting three rums from our partner distillery while learning about the unique process of rum creation and the fascinating history between the Cuban and American rum companies.  Intermixed with the tastings will be roaming musical entertainment and historical experts colorfully relating the important connections between Cuba, the founding of Miami and the railroad., Before returning to Miami Central, guests will enjoy a final dessert offering and specialty rum cocktail. As at the station, bars will be available on board to purchase additional cocktails (non-rum offerings available) as well as the distillery’s rum offerings.

Each ticket price includes:

  • Two complimentary cocktails; one in the station, one on the train
  • Hors D ‘Oeuvres in the station
  • 3 rum samples
  • Option to purchase additional alcoholic beverages, including highlighted rum offerings, from the Miami Brightline bar. Credit or Debit Card Only.
  • Education on the Rum and the influence of Rum on the Cuban culture
  • Onboard entertainment by musicians & bands and/or dancers emphasizing the Cuban-Latin culture.
  • Historical cultural narration focusing on the history of the railroad and the development of Miami.
  • Single Serve dessert on board the train.

All passengers on the HAVANA SPECIAL Rum Train must be 21+ and will be required to show a valid photo ID at time of check in.  Each passenger will be issued a wrist band after age verification; every passenger is required to wear this wristband for the duration of the event.  Please drink responsibly.

[accordion-item title=”How long is the experience? When should we arrive?”]

The entire experience is roughly two and a half hours in length. It is required that guests arrive at the start time of the event. This allows time to park, pass through security, and check in at Will Call in the station before enjoying the cocktail hour.  Boarding will begin 20 minutes prior to listed departure times, and end 5 minutes prior to listed departure time. The train ride itself is one and a half hours in length.

The HAVANA SPECIAL Rum Train is a continuous excursion from the Miami Brightline Station that travels North for 45 minutes and then returns again to the Miami Brightline station, making no stops along the way.

Event parking is available in the official Brightline parking garage at 161 NW 6th St. (entrance is located on the NW 1st Ct.)
Parking Rates: $6 daily / $1 first hour & $2 per additional hour
Brightline parking garages offer hourly and daily rates available for payment via PayByPhone. How does it work? Download the PayByPhone app, save your vehicle and credit card info, search the location (#4011, Miami), choose your length of stay and pay.

[accordion-item title=”Where do we go once we arrive at the station?”]

Guests should use the South Entrance of the Miami Station and follow signage to the HAVANA SPECIAL. The Will Call area for ticket pick up will be clearly marked. All passengers are required to go through Brightline’s security screening before boarding.
Boarding will begin 20 minutes prior to departure. Train doors close 5 minutes prior to departure and trains will not be held for those arriving late. Trains depart and return to the same location.

Yes. Brightline uses a threat detection platform that creates a physical security gate to specifically locate prohibited items on guests as they pass through security. Guests walk past with personal items in hand, while carry-on bags of size are placed on a conveyor belt to be x-rayed.

Each coach on THE HAVANA SPECIAL from the Brightline Station offers the same class of service. Seating is on Brightline equipment and is mix between standard and table seating in. Please see the following FAQ for more information on table seating.

[accordion-item title=”How does table seating work? Why do I have to buy the entire table?”]

A limited number of table seats are available in each coach and seat parties of two or four. Seats are arranged to face each other with a small table in between for cocktails and dessert.

Do you think sitting with a stranger at your table is a little awkward? So do we. To prevent this, we require parties to buy all seats at a table. There is an premium charge for this seating.

All seats on board the train are assigned and you will select your own table seats during the checkout process.

Yes. In order to offer the best experience for all guests, seating is assigned on board the HAVANA SPECIAL Rum Train. You will select your own seats during the online checkout process as you would on an airline. Please review seating charts carefully as not all seats face the same direction. The onboard presentation is designed to accommodate all seat directions and all passengers enjoy the same quality experience.

Active duty military members and first responders with the appropriate uniformed service ID card or badge are eligible for a 10% discount on up to 10 tickets. Please note, the active duty or first responder individual must be a member of the attending party and must present their uniformed service ID card or badge for verification when checking in at the event. If a member of your party has a disability and needs the most accessible seating or a wheelchair space, please contact a reservations representative at (TBD Phone#) to select and purchase the appropriate wheelchair/companion seats. Wheelchair spaces are available in select coaches and are comprised of a designated wheelchair space (no seat) and companion seats located nearby.  Brightline Miami Station is fully wheelchair accessible with restrooms on each level of the station and each train coach features an accessible restroom.

Yes. Each coach has an onboard restroom that is available to passengers. All restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Additional restrooms are located on each floor of the Miami Brightline Station.

Like sporting events, concerts, and other live events, tickets for the HAVANA SPECIAL Rum Train are not refundable.

Trains will continue to run in various weather conditions. However, trains may be cancelled or postponed at Brightline’s discretion due to weather or operational considerations. The event may also be cancelled or postponed if the State Highway Patrol closes major roads and freeways due to inclement weather. Full refunds will be offered in these scenarios.

No. For the comfort and safety of all guests, pets and emotional support animals are not permitted on the HAVANA SPECIAL Rum Train. Only trained service animals are permitted in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Florida law.
